It is about an American mini-series of 10 one hour episodes each one. These episodes were carried to the screen by and were produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and were drawn from the book "Band of Brothers de Stephen E Ambrose, died on octobre 14, 2002 at 66 years old. Passed on our screens during the summer 2002, the series met a sharp success.

Its creation :

Steven Spielberg was always interested by the second world war and its films prove it (1941, Empire of the Raising Sun). This is why it had decided to make the very realistic film "Saving Private Ryan" which gained an enormous success everywhere in the world. This success depended on the turning of Band of Brothers. As Saving Private Ryan was a success, the realization of Band of Brothers began. One can notice the similarity as regards images of film between Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers.



More than 10 000 observers, 500 actors and a budget of more than 114 million dollars were necessary for its realization which makes the this most expensive series of all the history.

Its composition :

Band of Brothers is made up of 10 one hour episodes each one approximately which spread out training of the American soldiers of Easy Company of the 506th of the 101st Airborne Division until the final capture of the Eagle's Nest of Hitler in Bavaria while passing by the battle of Bastogne (Arvennes) and concentration camp of Landsberg in Germany captures it.
