German strongpoints in Normandy: Wn 60

Atlantic wall

The Wn 61 strongpoint is located north of the plateau dominating the valley of the Revolution. It is one of three support posts in the village of Colleville-sur-Mer, opposite Omaha Beach. It consists of several shelters and a casemate type H677.

Composition of the Wn 61 strongpoint:

  • 2x 5 cm KWK L/42 guns
  • 1x 8,8 cm Pak 43/41 protected by a type H677 construction
  • 1x 5 cm Gr.W 201 f mortar in a tobrouk
  • 1x R35 tank turret on top of a tobrouk
  • Several flamethrowers
