German strongpoints in Normandy: Wn 83
Atlantic wall
The Wn 83 strongpoint forms, with the Wn 84 strongpoint, the Maisy battery. Located at the place called Les Perruques, one kilometer south-west of the village of Maisy, this basement consists of several H661 casemates, a tunnel with a length of more than fifty meters, several shelters, tobruks, constructions (sometimes made of sheet metal) and a buried field hospital, all connected by an extensive network of trenches and protected by a minefield coded Mf 95.
The site is armed by the 9th Battery of the Artillery-Regiment 1716 (716. Infanterie-Regiment).
Composition of the Wn 83 strongpoint:
- 4x 155 mm (SFH 414 -f-) howitzers
- Several machine guns
