2017 calendar of the reenactments military camps in Normandy

This page presents the calendar of the different reenactments of military camps in 2017 on the occasion of the D-Day and battle of Normandy 73rd anniversary.

Camp Bloody Gulch – Méautis (Manche – 50)
– Open to the public from 9.30 am. Reenactment Camp at Donville Manor with US, German and civilian military vehicles. Buvette in a 1940’s grocery store, American tank tour (Charly tank) and demonstration of combat techniques. Guided tours. Diners-concert jazz and interactive night shows (June 2, 3 and 4). Camp Arizona – Carentan (Manche – 50)
– Open to the public from 9am. Camp life, exhibition and parade of vehicles. Organization: CAPA – 06 34 03 46 45 – camp.arizona.normandie@gmail.com.

Military camp – Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche – 50)
– 2 to 6 pm: presentation of dioramas and didactic workshops, near the church. Organization: Military Remembrance Club – 02 33 71 56 54.

Camp Geronimo – Sainte-Mère-Eglise (Manche – 50)
– 9 am – 7 pm: All day long, every day on the camp:
Demonstration “the American parachutist”: equipment and armaments; explanations of command tactics: study of the drop zone on a 3D model, the “sand table”; First aid station in combat zone with medical evacuation (ambulances); replenishment of the “soldier’s home”: military shop to improve the daily life of the soldiers; an armored reconnaissance unit in the field (tanks, machine-guns, light vehicles, weapons); reenactment and demonstration of military cuisine; explanations on the different types of rations; exhibition of materials and vehicles.
Saturday June 3rd, 11 pm and 11.30 pm: animations around the role of the scouts, night demonstration with equipment and armaments.

Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer (Calvados – 14)
– Reenactment of a military camp and exhibition of military vehicles (cars, motorcycles …), in the meadow of the church. Information: 02 31 97 30 41.

Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer (Calvados – 14)
– At the “House of Liberation”, reenactment of the US Big Red One camp with an exhibition on the Resistance. Information: 02 31 97 30 41.
