On June 6, 2017, the US Army paid tribute to its valiant soldiers who landed 73 years earlier on Omaha Beach, now known as the Bloody Omaha. The mayor of Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer testified its gratitude for the countless sacrifices of the liberators in the presence of veterans and a delegation of the US Army represented by troops of the 1st and 29th infantry divisions.
