History of the 105 mm M2A1 Howitzer

The First World War has profoundly revolutionized the heavy artillery, which was given a leading role in the battles. The Americans who were equipped with French and British guns understood the importance of howitzers and long range guns.

This gun was used on most fronts where the American units were deployed: in North Africa, in the Pacific, in Europe... It was used in Normandy where it participated in the furious hedgerows war, providing infantry support. Its accuracy and its transportation mode was its strong points despite its large size.
