Bill Millin, the famous bagpipe player
who landed on 6 June 1944 on t Sword Beach was present during
these days of commemorations in Normandy. Immortalized by the
movie The Longest Day, Bill has assisted to a bagpipes
concert on 4 June 2009 at Colleville-Montgomery (in the presence
of veterans and Robert Watt, piper world champion) and other ceremonies
until June 6. Unfortunately he did not play the bagpipe during
the concert but he said he was delighted to listen to the next
generation of bagpipe players!
