Destroyer tank history
Before
their entry into the war in 1941, the Americans were aware that
tanks would play a key role on the battlefield. That is why the
U.S. militaries decided to increase their number of "tank hunters".
A prototype
is selected by the American military engineers who decided in September
1942, to start the production of the tank called M10 and then called
"Destroyer".
Again, as with
the Sherman tank, the Americans prefer to replace quality by quantity,
because the Destroyer tank can not fight strongly against most of
the German tanks. It must always have the initiative in combat.
The M10 Destroyer
tank remains a very good tank, mobile and with a strong fire power
and it was very popular in the American cavalry. It was used during
and after the Second World War by the military forces of Britain
and France in particular.
