| Born
in a small town in Ohio, Donald Hoobler volunteered in the Airborne
in 1942.
He joined the same year
the Easy Company at Camp Toccoa, Georgie.
In Band of Brothers,
he tries to find a German Luger pistol, like all other Allied soldiers
during the conflict in Europe and in particular Donald
Malarkey, and gets one in the Bois Jacques, after having killed
a German.
But watching his new
acquisition, he accidentally takes a bullet in the leg, the gun
being loaded. The shot cut the femoral artery of Corporal Hoobler
who died a few minutes later, before "Doc Roe" arrived.
This took place on January 3rd, 1945.
