Handley Page Halifax Mk I

Halifax Mk III bomber history

Entered in active service at the beginning of the Second World War in Europe, the British Halifax was a powerful four-engine bomber with an action range of over 2,000 km.

In 1940 the first Halifax bombers took off and a year later, on the night of March 11 to 12, 1941, it participated in its first tactic raid on the town of Le Havre, France.

Different versions of the Handley Page Halifax bomber were built, including meteorology information, anti-submarine, and parachutists carrier models. Improvements have been made to the Halifax and it was in February 1944 that the production of the Mk III model began. It was stopped at the end of the Second World War.

A total of 75,532 missions (most of them during nights) were made by this heavy bombers and nearly 227,000 tons of bombs were dropped.
