LCM Mk3 history

The LCM (for Landing Craft Mechanized) was already manufactured before World War 2. Its tactical aim was to increase the fire power of the assault troops. Indeed, the LCM was able to transport a 30 tons tank which could deliver close support to the infantrymen.

It could reach 10 knots and could transport 60 equipped soldiers, this is to say twice more than a LCVP.
