LCT Mk4 history

Le LCT (Landing Craft Tank) was the biggest landing craft of the British Navy. It was the British equivalent of the American LST and it could transport up to 136 tons of cargo.

About 6 different models (from Mk1 to Mk6) have been manufactured during and after the Second World War. However, the Mk4 model was the most manufactured one.

Widely used during the Battle of Normandy for transporting men and material, the Landing Craft Tank has also been used by the American forces. Some LCTs have taken part in the conflicts in Korea and in Vietnam.
