Messerschmitt Bf 109 G history

In the early 1930s, shortly before the Second World War, the production of the German fighter called Bf 109 began, manufactured by Bayerische Flugzeugwerke. Used during the Spanish civil war, the first Bf 109 fighters had to replace the aging Heinkel He 51.

Many versions of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 were built, the models improving the performance of this aircraft. The model Bf 109 E participated in the Battle of Britain in 1940, during which he had to escort German bombers over Britain. But far too slow compared to the powerful British Spitfire, a new model appeared at the end of 1940, the Bf 109 F.

One of the most successful model was the Bf 109 G. Very handy and relatively fast, it was manufactured in 1942. Although less efficient than the Focke Wulf Fw 190, the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G remained one of the most efficient German aircrafts built during the Second World War. Czechoslovakia manufactured under license many units of this fighter which was also used by Spain until 1958.
