History of the Panzerfaust
60
In
1943, the German Army used mainly rocket launcher Panzerfaust
30. Its range was much too low for the infantry, the German engineers
decided to develop the same year an improved model of the Panzerfaust,
capable of doubling its range.
The following year, in 1944, the production of the new rocket,
called Panzerfaust 60 (range 60 meters), began. Sighting
and fire devices were concentrated in one point: while using the
rod the infantryman was able to adjust its target. He could press
the trigger located directly next to the aimpoint and the projectile
(consisting of 1.34 kilograms of explosives) was propelled to
almost 45 meters/second.
The Panzerfaust, once used, is theoretically not usable any more.
But many units have been returned to the manufacturing plants
to be reset.
