Historique :

The Regina Rifles Regiment (7th Infantry Brigade) struggled out of Courseulles-sur-Mer and advanced towards Reviers along the départementale 170, supported by tanks from the 1st Hussars. Casualties were particularly high and the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division fell well behind schedule.

Nevertheless, Lieutenant-Colonel D. B. Buell’s men succeeded in repelling the German defenders of the 2nd Battalion of Grenadier-Regiment 736 (716 Infantry-Division) and the Regina Rifles captured Reviers at 5pm.

From Reviers, a squadron of Centaur tanks supported the capture of Le Fresne-Camilly at around 6.30pm by Company C of the Regina Rifles Regiment.

Today, 2,049 soldiers (2,044 Canadians, 4 British and 1 French) are buried in the Reviers military cemetery.
