70th anniversary of the Normandy landings
Location: Graignes
Date: 7 June 2014
Ceremony/Event: Commemorative ceremony organized by the town hall of Graignes in memory of the American paratroopers and Norman civilians killed for the liberation of the town. A parachute drop from the C-47 named “W7” was also carried out during this event, which took place in the presence of American soldiers. “W7”, belonging to a museum in the United States, participated in the airborne operations on 6 June 1944 over the Cotentin.
