The days that marked the Battle of Normandy

On 28 August, the Germans continued to cross the Seine river on floating bridges, north and south of Paris. They are followed directly by US and Commonwealth troops, who chase the defeated soldiers so they do not have time to regroup and counterattack. However, the German rear guards prevented the Allies from progressing rapidly and favored the withdrawal of the Wehrmacht and the Panzer armies.

Northeast of Caen, soldiers belonging to Colonel Piron’s Belgian brigade are advancing in the Couverville-en-Roumois region.
