German strongpoints in Normandy: Wn 11 / Wn 102

Atlantic wall

The Wn 11 strongpoint, also coded Wn 102 by the Germans, is situated to the north of the place called Hamel des Cruttes, at the place called Hamel Mauger. Protected along the beach by an anti-tank wall, it is armed by a gun of 50 mm (in concrete circular position) and two tank turrets of 37 mm installed on concrete shelter. Close protection of the site is provided, in addition to its belt of barbed wire and mines (located north and south of the Wn 11 strongpoint) by five positions for machine gun and a mortar of 8,14 cm in concrete circular position.

An observation post is built in the heart of the seafront position, in addition to various shelters and ammunition bunkers.

  • 2x 37 mm KWK (f) guns
  • 1x 8,14 cm Gr.W 34 mortar
  • 5 machine gun pits
