German strongpoints in Normandy: Wn 18
Atlantic wall
The Wn 18 is located west of Ouistreham on the beach of Riva Bella, opposite to Sword Beach. The Germans destroyed the casino which was originally there and replaced by two casemates and an anti-tank wall. One of the casemates is an H644 shelter surmounted by a shield with six battlements, the other an H626.
Composition of the Wn 18 strongpoint (Casino de Riva-Bella):
- 1x 75 mm anti-tank gun – F.K.231(f)
- 1x 5 cm KWK L/42 anti-tank gun
- 2x MG 34 machine guns under shield with six battlements
