German strongpoints in Normandy: Wn 62
Atlantic wall
The Wn 62 is located to the west of the plateau dominating the valley of the Revolution, near Colleville-sur-Mer. It is one of three support posts in the village of Colleville, opposite Omaha Beach. It consists of two casemates H669 and one casemate H667.
It is armed by 25 soldiers of the 3 Kompanie (726. Infanterie-Regiment, 716. Infanterie-Division).
Composition of the Wn 62 strongpoint:
- 1x 50 mm mortar (Gr.W 201 f) in a tobrouk
- 2x 75 mm gun (FK 235 b) protected by a type H669 construction
- Several flamethrowers
- 1x 5 cm KWK L/42 gun protected by a type H667 construction
