German strongpoints in Normandy: Wn 84
Atlantic wall
The Wn 84 strongpoint forms, with the Wn 83 strongpoint, Maisy’s battery. Located at La Martinière, one kilometer southwest of the village of Maisy, this basement consists of three casemates H669 (a fourth is still under construction at the time of the landing), several several shelters, tobrouks, constructions (sometimes made of sheet metal) and ammunition bunkers, all connected by an extensive network of trenches and protected by an Mf 95 coded mining belt.
The site is armed by the 8th battery of the Artillery-Regiment 1716 (716. Infanterie-Regiment).
Composition of the Wn 84 strongpoint:
- 4x 100 mm (leFH 14/19 -t-) guns
- Several machine guns
