– Exhibition ‘A German prison camp in Foucarville, from 1944 to 1947’.
Apart from the population of Foucarville and Ravenoville, few people know the history of the German prison camp set up in these towns between 1944 and 1947. Originally intended for 20,000 men, this site, known as ‘Continental Central Enclosure n°19’, had to be enlarged to accommodate up to 60,000. A real town was gradually built, with electric lighting, roads, sanitary facilities, a water supply providing 600,000 litres of water a day and a railway line.
Included in the museum entrance fee. Organised by Musée du Débarquement – 02 33 71 53 35.
