En revanche, ce que vous connaissez peut être un peu moins, c'est le nom de certains soldats présents sur cette photo;
"The photo you posted is of Able Company 506 on our march from Ravenoville to St. com du Mont when we stopped in Ste Marie du Mont to refill our canteens at the village water pump. This photo is a permenant fixture on that water pump today mis-captioned as Easy Company 506 by Steve Ambrose. A platoon of Easy company was along with us in our march from Ravenoville and Marmion Farms, including Randy "Tab Talbert, 1st Sgt. of Easy Co. who was later bayoneted by one of his own men. Tab Talbert survived the war. Tab's brother, Bob Talbert, is one of my closest friends today, we talk by phone almost every day. and the man to the left of the photo is Easy company.
The big man in the center rear is Leon Jckson of Texas, the man to his right (photo left) is Brown, I have his first name in my files. the trooper closest to the camera on the right with a cigarette in his left hand is Harold Phillips, my best buddy at that time, I was standing alongside Phillips but went to the cameraman (a Div. Cameraman) It wasn't Krochka but his buddy. The girl in the center as they offered us wine, married a 1st Sgt., 3rd Bn 506 Rgt. in Joigny, France after the war.
After this photo was taken we marched on Exit 2 toward Angoville au Plain (with the church with the bloody pews) we were caught up in a fierce battle. our medics used the church as an aid station, hence the bloody pews. Within minutes after that battle our group joined Col. Ballard on the left of the road in an attack that led us to being shelled by American cruiser Quincey, eight of our men died in that barrage We continued on to Les Drouies where we defeated German Falschirjagers 6th Hermann Goring Rgt. then five of us led by Sherwood Trooter, Able Co. ended up fighting the Battle of "Dead Man's Corner." That was where Hagenbuch was killed as he loaded and I operated the machine gun. Five of us against a large force of Germans. It's all in my book Currahee. The majority of these men in the photo are Able Company, 506. Now I wished I hadn't stepped out of the photo."
