bonjour!!

Je voulais savoir a quoi correspond la 1st corp area et ce qu'elle est venue faire sur omaha?? apres plusieurs recherches j'avoue ne pas avoir trouvé grand chose si ce n'est que ses hommes étaient à omaha!!

De plus, pourriez vous me donner des détails sur les groupes qui composaient ce corps d'armée...je pense aux unités!!

Etait il possible qu'il y est une partie des hommes affectés au signal corps??( est ce le service d'infos???)

A mon très humble avis "1st corps area" ne veut rien dire du tout.. sinon sa traduction littérale....

Après de nouvelles recherches, suite à vos messages; il se pourrait que le mot "area" ne soit pas important, en effet dans le document (descriptif d'un soldat)il se peut que cela signifie "l'ensemble", "le groupe"!

En revanche je réitère mes questions au sujet de la First army,et first corp!

la First US army est celle qui à débarqué en Normandie le 06 juin 44, commandée par le général Omar N Bradley... pour le d-day elle etait composée du VIIè corps (Utah Beach, gal Collins) et du Vè Corps (Omaha, Gal Gerow)

en revanche je n'ai jamais entendu parler de 1st corps...

si je comprends bien ce que vous me dites, la 1st Us army était donc composée de 2 corps d'armée différentes ( la 5 et la 7).
et ensuite chaque Corps étaient divisés en parties, pourriez vous me les donner si vous les connaissez ( je pense que oui)!

Trouvait on des signal corps dans le 5e Corps et le 7e Corps? ou cela était il indépendant??

tout d'abord, il faut savoir ce qu'est un corps... il s'agit d'une unité tactique composée de plusieurs divisions (la division etant le plus petit élément tactique capable de manoeuvre)

un corps comprenait donc en général deux divisions d'infanterie et une division blindée (armored)

plusieurs corps formaient une armée. Maintenant, ces corps ainsi que leur composition n'étaient pas fixes! ils variaient selon le terrain et l'évolution de la bataille (ainsi la 29th Inf div, débarquée le 06/06 au sein du Vth corps passera t'elle au XIXth le 17/06/44)
