Dear sir,

My name is Stéphane Thabouret, I?m 34 years old and live in France.

With my mother, we currently try to find some information about my unknown grandfather. My grandmother just gives us these information.

I tell you the few information we have about this topic:

During 1944-1945, my grandmother was a cleaning lady, working for Madam Marie-Louise Clerget, at Luc-sur-Mer. My grandmother name was Christiane Thouan.

She has met an English-speaking soldier after the D-Day. She was young and do not speak English. However, she saw him a lot of time.

She remembers that is name sounds like ?Kelly?. But we do not know if it is a first or last name.

He seems to be an engineer.

My grandmother became pregnant during December 1944. She has chosen to vanish, instead of inform ?Kelly? from this fact.

My mother is born in Benouville Castle (which was a maternity during war) during the summer 1945 (11th of August). After that, my grandmother went to public assistance in Caen. We know that ?Kelly? has tried to find her in this location.

So, do you know who can provide me the list of British engineering units which have been on this location at least for a year (from June 44 to June 45, maybe more) ?

Maybe your grandfather has landing on Sword Beach, he can say that, thanks to the name of your grandmother's village. This village was not far of this beach ( sorry if my english is not perfect, I'm still at school )

Merci d?avoir fait la traduction pour moi. Je l?aurais bien faite personnellement mais étant donné que j?ai écris cette réponse juste avant de partir au boulot, il m?était beaucoup plus facile (et surtout rapide) de rédiger en Français.

J'ai des infos plus précises :
Son nom serait A. Curry (Et non Kelly). Il serait Sgt du 234th Field Coy Royal Engineers.
Je suis maintenant à essayer de retrouver l'homme, ou au moins d'anciens de cette unité ... Qui n'exista que jusqu'a la fin de la guerre.
Ma grand-mère travaillait chez Monsieur Flambard, à Luc-Sur-Mer. Il était maraicher et elle l'aidait dans le métier. Marie-Louise Clerget était la fille de monsieur Flambard.
