Hallo!
Sorry I write in english because I don't know french..

According to "Von Berlin bis Caen" of T.Fischer, the SS-Schw.Artillerieabteilung 101 heavily hit and damaged the french battleship "Jean Bart" during the following days after 6th June 1944.
But I cannot find any related info on the web.

Is this true?

Le Jean Bart était à Casablanca (Maroc) au moment du débarquement.

Le bombardement du Jean Bart par les Allemands est une légende.
Le FNFL Courbet a été coulé comme blockship le 9 juin 1944 à 13H25 avec dans ses soutes 1000 obus de 305 mm au Gooseberry N°5 à Hermanville.
La 2.Batterie de la SS-Korps-Artillerie-Abteilung 101 commandée par le SS-Hstuf. Ferdinand Stettner et la 3. Batterie du SS-0stuf. Erich Richter avec leurs Kanonen de 17 cm positionnées à Bretteville-sur-Odon, encadrent de leurs tirs à partir du 9 juin un navire de ligne sécurisant l'embouchure de l'Orne. Les Allemands l'identifient comme étant le Jean-Bart; c'est son sistership, le Courbet. Le tir est dirigé de la vieille tour d'une maison de maître sur la rive droite de l'Orne.
