bonsoir!
Wish I had known of this forum earlier. My Uncle served with the 326th C Company - 101st Airborne. He was 1st Lt of the 2nd Platoon AEB and jumped into France in the early hours of D-Day. Based on research I've done, he was in the first class of paratroopers trained and certified for WWII duty (in Fort Benning, Georgia). He parachuted safely into France on D-Day but is officially listed as MIA on June 7th, 1944. From all accounts, the ammunition truck he was in was hit by artillery shell just North of Vierville and totally destroyed. I'd love to connect with other family members of the 326th C Company.

Re: Greetings from Minnesota USA!
Welcome aboard Frank.
I have received your email thanks to the D-Day Overlord website. Thank you about it.
Your uncle must have been dropped among serial 15 on D-Day (check here : https://www.dday-overlord.com/en/d-day/ ... /serial-15).
Heavy fightings took place at Vierville at D-Day +1 at around 9 am when the 1st and 2nd battalions of the 506th PIR began to recon the village, supported by A company of 746th Tank Battalion, during they movement to St-Côme-du-Mont. They were opposed to one battalion from the Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6.
Regards.
