The 709th Infantry Div. was in charge of the eastern part of the Cotentin Peninsula. The 105 mm guns at Brécourt probably belonged to the 191st Artillery regiment which had 12 105's in the area...

Army coastal artillery reg.1261 was manning Varreville (XYZ complex)

Nope! havent found zilch about that neither in Koskimaki's, nor Bando's or Burgett's books... sorry!
Second thoughts : could be 3rd and 6th batteries... very controversial issue though... the 91st Luftlande was around too...
Definetly 10,5cm guns, but French or Czech???

The cannons i always heard they were german?
There s a site with pics of the positions of cannons and MGs like this one on a site called ddaybrecourt.com or something like that and the owner has some pics i made as well Image

Where did you hear about 3rd or 6th batterie?

91 luftlande division was just behind the 709 ID so i wonder why they placed a batterie in the space of the 709 ID.

would be nice to see a Soldbuch of a soldier of that batterie eh eh Image
