Plane missing may 20th 1944, appreciate any info

On 20 May 1944 Canso 9773 of 5 (BR) Sqn, RCAF, failed to return from depth charge practice after take-off from Torbay, Newfoundland. [One of the four passengers was a Lt. Gerard Garand (Army), my uncle. Later discovered that the Canso carried 50 lbs dynamite and unserviceable pyrotechnics for disposal. On 30 May 1944 funeral service held for RC personnel and 3 June 1944 memorial service for Prot personnel. This info comes from 5 (BR) Sqn diary.
I am doing research about what happened and I Know my uncle was member of Le regiment de Montmagny, infantry unit posted in Torbay and absorbed by Les fusiliers du St-Laurent. I am interested in finding anyone who would have been in Torbay at the time or would hae info about that incident.

Tanpis , j'ai pu voir qu'elle etait inscrite aussi sur des sites americains et que ses recherches progressais lentement mais surement depuis 2007.

Loadplan...vous êtes vraiment gentil...En fait j'ai trouvé la réponse à ce qui est arrivé par le biais d'un forum qui s'appelle RAF command. Sur ce site, en l'espace de 2 jours, ils m'ont informée du contenu de ce qui est dans mon message et du nom des membres de l'équipage. Je cherche toute info concernant les autres membres car je crois que plusieurs versions ont été données ax familles. J'ai trouvé une info concernant le pilote Byers où il est mentionné que son avion a été portée disparue alors qu'il allait briser des icebergs...Dans mon souvenir, on avait dit à la famille de mon oncle que son avion s'était perdue quelque part au Groenland...enfin, je tente de coller ensemble les petits bouts d'information.
