Junkers Ju
52 history
In
1932, after a year of testing, the Junkers Ju 52 is in service
in the Lufthansa, the German civilian airline. It is
a robust aircraft with three BMW engines, capable of carrying
about 18 passengers.
Very quickly, the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, ordered
several miliary models of the Junkers Ju 52. The Luftwaffe
wished to strengthen its airlift capability, so far very low.
The different versions of the Ju 52 are: bomber, cargo or parachutists
transport.
The first battle of the Junkers Ju 52 was took place in Spain
during the civil war, where it served primarily to transport troops
and equipment.
At the beginning of the Second World War, about 1,000 aircrafts
are in service in the Luftwaffe. In 1945, five times
as many were built. Present on all fronts, in all situations,
the Ju 52 was the plane "to do everything" of the German
Air Force, and many versions have been produced, improving or
enhancing some characteristics of the carrier.
After World War II, the Junkers Ju 52 was used by many European
civil airlines, including Germany and France.
