Junkers Ju 52 history
It was in 1932, after a year of testing, that the Junkers Ju 52 entered service with the Lufthansa, the German civil airline. It is a robust aircraft equipped with three BMW engines, capable of carrying about 18 passengers.
Very quickly, the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, ordered for a series of Junkers Ju 52 in military version. The military wishes to increase their air transport capacity, which was previously very low. The various versions produced make the Ju 52 a bomber, a carrier or even a wing.
The Junkers Ju 52 sees its baptism of fire being realized in Spain during the civil war, where it serves mainly as transport of troops and materials.
At the beginning of the Second World War, about 1,000 units were in service at the Luftwaffe. In 1945, five times more are produced. Present on all fronts, in all situations, the Ju 52 is the “all-rounder” aircraft of the German Air Force; Many versions are produced, enhancing or enhancing certain characteristics of the carrier.
After the Second World War, the Junkers Ju 52 was used by many European civil airlines, notably in Germany and France.
