| History
of the
M7 Sexton tank :
Short
after the Second World War the British Army wanted to develop, just
like the Americans, a self-propelled gun capable of supporting the
infantry as close as possible.
English engineers
reuse the work of their American counterparts and, in 1943, the
M7 self-propelled gun was created. Since the U.S. military had called
its model "Priest", the British decided to appoint their
own creation "Sexton".
La production,
commencée en 1943, s'arrête à la fin de la Seconde
Guerre mondiale en 1945, 2150 exemplaires ont été
créés. Production started in 1943 and stopped at the
end of the Second World War. In 1945, 2150 vehicles have been produced.
The Canadians have also used the M7 Sexton self-propelled guns,
especially during the Battle of Normandy
