Museums of the Normandy Landings and Battle of Normandy

World War II Museum

The World War II Museum, located in Quinéville in the Cotentin region, opened in 2004 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Normandy Landings. Despite a brief closure from autumn 2016 to spring 2017 and the announcement that its collection would be auctioned due to insufficient visitor numbers, the former Quinéville Memorial has found a new owner and has now been renamed the “World War II Museum.”

It offers visitors an immersion in the Occupation period through the reconstruction of a street during the period 1940-1944, and the opportunity to discover the history of the Normandy Landings and Battle of Normandy through dioramas and exhibitions of period vehicles and equipment spanning 1,000 m². The museum is housed on the remains of an Atlantic Wall bunker, from which visitors enjoy a superb panoramic view of the Cotentin coastline. The visit is estimated to take approximately 90 minutes.
