Commemorations of the 65th anniversary of the Normandy landings

Location: Picauville
Date: 5 June 2009

Ceremonies: On 5 June 2009, at 11:00 a.m., a ceremony was held in Picauville in honour of the pilots and crews of the US Air Force. For the occasion, a model of a Douglas C-47 was unveiled in the presence of veterans and a detachment from the US Army (4th Cavalry, 1st US Cavalry Division). A C-130 Hercules, worthy successor to its predecessor, flew over the site to close the ceremony.
