Inauguration of the C-47 Dakota SNAFU Special
Commemorations of the 64th anniversary of the Normandy landings
Merville – Saturday, 7 June 2008. The United States storms the Merville battery.
A C-47 Dakota named SNAFU Special and painted in the colours of the United States, completely restored by a team of volunteers with the help of numerous donors, is inaugurated in the presence of American veterans (including the aircraft’s pilots, veterans of Operation Neptune) and British veterans at the Merville battery.
A parachute drop demonstration was also carried out from a C-47 above the battery.
