2017 D-Day Commemorations photos
On June 6, 2017, the US Army paid tribute to its valiant soldiers who landed 73 years earlier on Omaha Beach, now known as the Bloody Omaha. The ceremony took place at the monument of the 1st Infantry Division, located at the top of the remains of the German Wn 62 strongpoint. The town hall of Colleville-sur-Mer testified its gratitude for the innumerable sacrifices of the liberators in the presence of veterans and a delegation of the US Army belonging to the 1st Infantry Division.
