D-Day 2018 commemorations photos

As part of the commemorative ceremonies of the 74th anniversary of the Normandy landings, the town of Grandcamp-Maisy paid tribute on June 6, 2018 to three illustrious people linked to the city and the history of D-Day. First, a wreath laying was made at the monument in memory of 1st Sergeant Leonard G. Lomell, hero of Pointe du Hoc, and at the Technical-Sergeant Frank Peregory monument, who heroically participated in the liberation of Grandcamp in 1944, and finally before the grave of the commander Philippe Kieffer, having landed on June 6, 1944 in Sword Beach with the 176 French commandos. These commemorations were made in the presence of French officials and US and French military.
