This page presents the calendar of the various commemorative ceremonies organized in 2019 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings and the Battle of Normandy.

Location: Hiesville (Manche)
Schedule to be specify: guided historical hike (9 km) in the footsteps of the paratroopers of the 101st Airborne in June 1944. See you in the field after the farm Lecaudey. Follow signs in the village. Period held authorized without real or dummy weapon. Limited places. Price: 2 €/pers. (free for under 10s). – 08:00 pm: first public release of the movie “The girl who wore freedom” at the D-Day Experience Museum.

Location: Amfreville (Manche) – Rue du moulin
11:15 am: ceremony at the 507th (US) Parachute Infantry Regiment. Information: +33 (0)2 33 41 00 18.

Location: Carentan-les-Marais (Manche)
– Schedule to be confirmed: conference on the liberation of the city at the Carentan Theater, rue de la Halle. Information: +33 (0)2 33 42 74 00.
– 11:30 am: parachuting of men in WW2 uniform near the Purple Heart Lane (RN 13, north of the city) from C-47 aircraft. Subject to favorable weather conditions.
– 04:30 pm: ceremony at Carré de Choux, in the presence of American veterans (Saint-Côme-du-Mont road).
– 05:30 pm: ceremony at the Signal monument (facing the town hall, Boulevard de Verdun).
– 06:00 pm: military parade to the port.
– 09:30 pm: concert of Nick Aaron (former actor of the Band of Brothers series) at the port of Plaisance.
– 11:30 pm: Fireworks at the harbor.

Location: Foucarville (Manche)
– 09:00 pm: concert evening “Foucarville Bunker” with the West Celtc Pipe and Drum band.

Location: Normandy
Event: tribute to the Allies at the exact time of D-Day on the five landing beaches. Participate in one of the gatherings with a simple flower in memory of fallen Allied soldiers. The appointments location will be specified soon. Organization: Association D-Day Overlord.

Location: Bernières-sur-Mer (Calvados) 
– 8:00 am: commemorative ceremony at the Maison des Canadiens, 32 Promenade des Français.
– 09:30 am: ceremony at the monument of 288, route de Bény.
– 11:30 am: ceremony at the Canadian Monument, rue Queen’s own rifles of Canada.
– 9:00 pm: commemorative ceremony at the Maison des Canadiens, 32 Promenade des Français.

– 09:00 pm: French play “Les Voilà!“, Written to commemorate the anniversary of the Normandy landings. Free admission.

Location: Leadership monument – Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche), 913 provincial road (“route départementale“) to Utah Beach.
Event: time to be confirmed. Commemorative ceremony in tribute to the airborne troops at the Major Dick Richard Winters monument. Organization: Association D-Day Overlord.

– 10:00 am: Utah Beach ceremony.

Location: Sainte-Mère-Eglise (Manche)
– 02:00 pm: demonstration commented and animated by reenactors on the embarkation of paratroopers in period dress, church square.
– 04:00 pm: ceremony at the stele of Alexandre Renaud, former mayor of Sainte-Mère-Eglise.
– 04:30 pm: mass in the church.
– 05:30 pm: ceremony at the monument of AVA, place of June 6th.
– 08:30 pm: concert for peace, place of June 6th.

Location: Beuzeville-au-Plain (Manche)
– 05:00 pm: ceremony at the stele, Place Bienaimé Agnès.

Location: Carentan-les-Marais (Manche)
– 10.00 am: ceremony in the presence of American paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division, Republic Square.
– 11.30 am: departure of the Carentan Liberty March. Information: carentanlibertymarch@outlook.com.
– Schedule to be specified: ceremony at the Cole Monument, inauguration of the Purple Heart Lane (RN 13, north of Carentan) in the presence of troops of the 101st (US) Airborne Division.

Location: Chef-du-Pont (Manche)
– 12:00 pm: country meal near the Rex Combs Square.
– 14:00 pm: ceremony at the Rex Combs Square.

– 06:30 pm: ceremony at the 90th ID monument, followed by a meal on registration. Information: +33 (0)2 33 41 00 18.

Location: Sainte-Mère-Eglise (Manche)
– 09:00 am: ceremony at the stele of the 3 temporary cemeteries. Information: 02 33 41 31 18.
– 09:30 am: mass of the memory in the church Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption.
– 10:45 am: ceremony at Signal monument, 6th of June place.
– 11:35 am: wreath laying at the terminal 0 in tribute to the civilian victims, facing the town hall at No. 6, rue du Cap-de-Laine.
– 11:45 am: wreath layin at the stele of Generals Gavin and Ridgway.
– 07:00 pm: “Banquet of Liberty”. Friendly meal with the military of several nationalities. By reservation at the Tourist Office at Sainte Mère Eglise: +33 (0)2 33 21 00 33 or ot.sme@ccbdc.fr. – 04:30 pm: commented historical hike of 8 km. Comments on the battles of the 82nd (US) Airborne Division. Meet at the parking lot of the communal hall. Reenactors allowed without a real or dummy weapon. Limited places. Price: 2 €/pers. (free for under 10s). Souvenir booklet: 4 €. – 10:00 am: commemorative ceremony.

Location: Carentan-les-Marais (Manche)
– 04:30 pm: parade with the arrival of the exodus on the place of the Republic followed by the arrival of Carentan Liberty March. In the presence of 10th Airborne soldiers and American veterans.
– 08:30 pm: Liberation ball, rue de la Halle. Entry: 10 €. On-site catering. Organization: Carentan Liberty Group.

Location: Ecausseville (Manche) – Dirigible hangar, La Lande
– 10:00 am: inauguration of the monument in memory of American soldiers and civilians of Ecausseville. This event will be followed by a reception.
– 03:30 pm: parachuting close to the hangar of reenactors. Subject to favorable weather conditions. Information: +33 (0)2 33 08 56 02.

Location: Ranville British War Cemetery (Calvados)1 County Street Louis de Rohan Chabot, 14860 Ranville
Event: Ceremony in honor of the Commonwealth soldiers who fell during the Battle of Normandy, with the participation of the members of the Poppies of the Commonwealth program, which proposes the sponsorship of war graves in Normandy. Organization: Association D-Day Overlord.

Location: Sainte-Mère-Eglise (Manche)
– 09:00 am to 08:00 pm: D-Day Memorial Parade organized by Historic Programs, with the participation of 3,000 musicians from 15 US states.
– 09:00 pm: musical entertainment with the group Les Refrains d’entour, place du 6 juin.
– 10:45 pm: rehearsal demonstrations on the camp Géronimo (3 km from Sainte-MèreeEglise, towards Picauville). Use of anti-aircraft search lights.

Location: Brévands (Manche)
– 11:00 am: ceremony in honor of the American paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division. Information: filthy.13@hotmail.fr.

Location: Ecausseville (Manche) – La Lande
– 08:30 pm: Peace Ball at the dirigible hangar. Information: +33 (0)2 33 08 56 02.

Location: Grandcamp-Maisy (Calvados) – Maisy battery
Event: at 11:00 am, ceremony in memory of the fights of the Maisy battery, led in particular by the 5th (US) Ranger Battalion, organized by the Maisy Battery Museum. Participation of the D-Day Overlord association.

Location: La Fière (Manche)
– 11:00 am: parachute of reenactors in WW2 outfits with the participation of Liberty Jump and the Round Canopy Parachuting Team. Subject to favorable weather conditions.
– 01:00 pm: massive parachute with the participation of 1000 paratroopers and 30 aircraft from different nations. Subject to favorable weather conditions.
– 03:00 pm: ceremony at the Iron Mike monument.

Location: Saint-Côme-du-Mont (Manche)
– 10:00 am: commemorative ceremony.

Location: Utah Beach – Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche department). Rendez-vous at the Utah Beach Museum car park (La Madeleine, 50480 Sainte-Marie-du-Mont).
Event: June 9, 2019 from 01:00 am, 3rd edition of the “The Longest Night” hike, in the footsteps of American paratroopers and infantrymen engaged on June 6, 1944 in the Cotentin Peninsula. Departure from the Utah Beach parking lot, followed by 6 to 7 hours of walking on the drop zones with historical commentary and overnight entertainment. Arrival at sunrise on Utah Beach. Registrations are closed: COMPLETE EVENT.

– 10:00 am: inauguration of the fresco for Liberty, rue d’Isigny.

– 11:00 am: meeting of May, Escher and Steele families, place of June 6th.
– 11:30 am: musical entertainment with the Harmonie de l’Etoile Sottevastaise..
– 12:00 pm: Normandy Day picnic.
– 12:30 pm – 06:00 pm: musical entertainment with Howlin ‘Fox and shows.
