2019 D-Day commemorations photos – 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings

This ceremony, organized on June 8, 2019 as part of the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings by the D-Day Overlord Association and the commune of Coigny, honors the memory of the crew members and technicians of the 358th Fighter Group of the USAAF . It took place in front of the Franquetot castle in the presence of the Mayor of Coigny, Mr. Leboucher, Brigadier General Mark. R. August, commanding the 86th Airlift Wing of the American base Ramstein (Germany), Gerard Mary, president of the association D-Day Overlord and Annie Feuillette, niece of the aviator Pierre Autret, died June 7, 1944 crashing near the church of Coigny with his Spitfire Mk V BM312 aircraft of the 345 “Berry” squadron.

Following speeches, wreath laying and national anthems, C-130 Hercules transport aircraft from the 86th Airlift Wing flew over the location of the ceremony, located near ALG A-14 Cretteville airfield.
