The Atlantic Wall Museum, also known as the “Bunker Museum”, is located in the town of Ouistreham, near “Sword Beach” area. It is housed in an old firing direction post of the German Atlantic Wall, and its summit overlooks the Seine Bay and the mouth of the Orne river. Through its original museography, it introduces its visitors to the various reconstructed rooms and deepens the study of the complete history of the Atlantic Wall.
The Grand Bunker Museum details the history of the creation of the Todt Organization, the genesis of the Atlantic Wall, its defenses and equipment, the arrival of the Feldmarshall Erwin Rommel in Normandy, the D-Day landing of June 6, 1944 and the fightings of No. 4 Commando.
