Arromanches 2009
Commemorations of the 65th anniversary of the Normandy landings
Location: Arromanches-les-Bains
Date: June 2009
Ceremonies: throughout the commemorations, veterans, passionate historians, visitors and collectors gathered in the small village of Arromanches opposite Port Winston, one of the two famous artificial harbours built by the Allies during the Normandy campaign in 1944. A modern British Army landing craft was stationed on the beach, next to the remains that are still visible today.
