Sargent and belonging to 91st Troop Carrier Squadron, 439th Troop Carrier Group, shot down by German anti-aircraft defense on June 6, 1944 above Picauville in Normandy while he was carrying paratroopers from company C of the 501st Parachute Infantry Division, 101st Airborne Division.
It crashed at 1:14 at La Maison de Haut, Gourbesville.
The crew as well as the paratroopers died in the crash.
