On June 7, 2019, as part of the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings, local authorities and soldiers paid tribute to the liberators of the commune of Chef-du-Pont. The ceremony was held in front of the Captain Rex Combs Monument, erected as a memorial to paratroopers from 1st Battalion, the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. American veterans were present, such as Raymond Wallace (Company B, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment) and Curtis Phillips (4th Infantry Division).
