D-Day and Battle of Normandy museums
The America Gold Beach Museum is dedicated to the two twentieth-century historical events traversed by the commune of Ver-sur-Mer: on June 29, 1927, the American aviators, Byrd, Acosta, Balchen and Noville take off from Rooseveltfield to ensure the first airmail link between the United States and France aboard the Fokker C-2 called « America ». The plane crashes (crew survived) in front of the beach of Ver-sur-Mer. A space is dedicated to aeronautics and this little known historical event.
The second space focuses on the Normandy landings and more specifically on the Gold Beach sector led by the British soldiers of the 50th Infantry Division on June 6, 1944. Specific dioramas and explanatory panels allow you to discover in detail the unfolding fights.
