A film about the Battle of La Fière, based on the book “No Better Place to Die” by an American veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, Robert M. Murphy, has been in preparation for several years. The project has been repeatedly delayed due to lack of funding.

Last week, the production company launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform via its Facebook page to finally make the film a reality. The feature film, originally scheduled for release to coincide with the 65th anniversary of D-Day, is ultimately not scheduled to be released until 2019.

Captain Dale Dye, a Vietnam veteran, served as a military advisor on prestigious films such as Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, and the miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. He explains his reasons for making this film: “More than ever, I want to pay a heartfelt tribute to these men who were the first to set foot on Normandy soil on the night of June 5-6, 1944. The Battle of La Fière is an episode of the D-Day landings that receives little detail in history books. Yet, in my opinion, La Fière saved D-Day.” »
