Ceremony/Event: As part of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings and the Battle of Normandy, American and British aircraft dropped nearly 300 British paratroopers over the historic Ranville drop zone to commemorate the assault by the 6th Airborne Division in the early hours of 6 June 1944.
