Subject: video of Operation Hackensack (air transport carried out by the 439th Troop Carrier Group and the 441st Troop Carrier Group of reinforcements belonging to the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment and the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division). The Waco gliders towed by Douglas C-47s reached the Cotentin Peninsula and the landing zone codenamed ‘W’ near Sainte-Mère-Eglise at 9 a.m. Of the thousand men involved in Operation Hackensack, 15 American soldiers were killed during the landing and around 60 others were wounded.
