Subject: report on the arrival at Utah Beach of French General Philippe Leclerc de Hauteclocque, recognisable by his cane and cap, welcomed on the beach at Saint-Martin-de-Varreville by Major General Walton H. Walker, commander of the 20th Corps of the 3rd (US) Army. The two general officers leave the scene in a Dodge WC 56 Command Car. French marines sample some Norman Calvados, while crews decorate the M4 Sherman tanks that have just landed in the Saint-Germain-de-Varreville sector.
