On Sunday, August 7, 2016, in the military cemetery of Cintheaux (Calvados), a tribute was paid to Gérard Doré, the youngest Canadian soldier killed in 1944. He was 16 years old.

The commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of the sectors of Caen South, Falaise, Trun and Chambois, Sunday, August 7, 2016, in the Canadian military cemetery of Cintheaux, was marked with a tribute to the youngest Canadian soldier killed during the Battle of Normandy. Gérard Doré was 16 years old.

The soldier Gérard Doré, belonging to the battalion of the Fusiliers de Mont-Royal, killed on July 23, 1944 in Verrieres.
