Battle of Cherbourg

Combined Task Force 129, under the responsibility of Rear Admiral Morton Deyo, was formed on the occasion of the bombing of the Cherbourg fortress which begins on June 25, 1944, starting at 9 am and ending at 3 pm. It gathers three battleships, two heavy cruisers, two light cruisers, eleven destroyers and three squadrons of minesweepers. It consists of Group 1 and Group 2
